Kaneidra Everson was a double alumna of Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Criminology and a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice. As an undergraduate, she was a four-year member of Loyola’s dance team and served three years as captain. After completing her bachelor’s degree, she joined the coaching staff and led the Athletics Department’s dance, cheer, and mascot programs. During her 16th year with the Loyola spirit programs, Kaneidra lost her five-year battle with cancer.
Kaneidra worked very hard to advance the caliber and recognition of the program and transformed it into a nationally ranked team.
She also worked for the Universal Dance Association as a head instructor in the Midwest region and as a competition judge on both the regional and national levels. In addition, she served as a freelance choreographer for dance teams across the country.
The Everson family established the scholarship to fulfill Kaneidra’s desire to recognize those students who worked to further advance the team while maintaining their academic focus.
